Breast Augmentation/Reduction

Breast Augmentation is a procedure for enlarging the breasts, making breasts more shapely, and lifting sagging breasts...

Expected results

Depending on desired results, breasts will be larger, more shapely and more full. Dr. Liu and his team have extensive experience in making sure results will meet patient expectations by considering factors such as current chest measurement, desired size and body type. This allows them to recommend the appropriate size and type of implant for the best, most natural looking result.

Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction is a procedure to decrease the size of the breasts, making the breasts more firm, lifted and improved in appearance in addition to reducing the weight of the breasts.

Expected results

The breasts will be smaller, firmer and more shapely.

Will it hurt?

Breast augmentation is performed under a general anesthesia. This procedure is moderately painful post procedure but is easily controlled with pain medication.

How is it done?

A small incision is made in the arm pit area. A breast implant is then inserted under the breast tissue or underlying muscle.

Will it leave a scar?

The small incision under the arms usually heals to a fine-lined scar by six months, and then is usually not noticeable.

Will I have to take time off of work or from my normal daily routine?

The patient is restricted to rest at home with minimal arm movement during the first 48 hours. There may be some mild discomfort, swelling or discolouration of the breast area for a short period of time. Light activities can be resumed whenever the patient feels up to it. Most patients return to work in 1-2 weeks.

Are there any risks?

Risks associated with this procedure are very uncommon, but may include:

Capsular contraction - this is not a health risk, but may result in discomfort, pain or distortion of the breast shape. This happens when the cavity in which the implant is placed shrinks.

Hematomas - Some bleeding may occur inside the pocket containing the breast implant. The body will usually absorb it over time, and in rare cases the blood is removed with a surgical procedure.

Infection - Rare, but possible. When infection occurs it's usually mild and goes away on its own. If a serious infection occurs, the implant will likely have to be removed and replaced 2-3 months after healing.
